The third and final scenario that we are covering in our series is what’s known as a hybrid cloud.

What is Hybrid Cloud?

In the hybrid cloud scenario, some of your data is stored in the cloud, and some of your data is stored locally on your PC or a corporate server.

More and more organisations recognise that there are scenarios where some data is best managed by their own teams. In many cases, this can be influenced by legislation or corporate standards, and so the idea that a move to the cloud must be all or nothing is becoming less and less popular.

In our own scenario at SMB Solutions, we have customers with their SAP Business One deployment is hosted on our multi-tenant cloud. They also use Office 365 and Sharepoint for storing other documents and information. This is a prime example of a hybrid cloud with a mix of multiple cloud providers.

Why Use Multiple Cloud Providers?

Using multiple cloud providers allows organisations to maintain a hybrid cloud environment that combines both security and cost savings. An example of this is keeping your most security-focused data in a private cloud while running regular business data and apps in cost-effective public cloud networks.

At the end of the day, what drives the decision-making around which model works best for you is your own individual business circumstances and requirements.

The good news is that there are multiple choices available, and as a customer, you are free to make that choice once you are armed with the right information.
