Optimise the user experience by changing the way you access SAP Business One.
SAP Business One is a fully-featured, cloud-based enterprise resource planning system with an entire suite of embedded productivity tools included. It offers native integration with a wide range of business software solutions, from Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and more.
This would not be possible without flexible architecture. SAP knows that each organisation is different, and has different access needs based on its workflows.
Users can access SAP services and features in different ways, according to their needs. Each access method offers a set of advantages and drawbacks. Informed administrators are able to recommend the optimal method for their employees, partners, and departments.
Three Ways to Access SAP Business One Cloud Through the Web
Most SAP Business One users access the platform through one of three methods. Understanding the benefits and limitations of each method helps administrators and users identify the best option for their workflow:
1) Through SAP: The Standard Web Browser Client
The quickest way to access SAP Business One services is through the software’s standard web browser client. This access method utilizes SAP 9.2 technology, released in 2016. Unsurprisingly, this access method comes with a few downsides due to the aging technology it relies on.
This method is not compatible with add-ons. If your SAP Business One workflow requires third-party software and complex integrations, you won’t be able to access them through the SAP web browser client.
2) Direct Connection: The Remote Desktop Service Connection
You can access the remote desktop services connection directly from any Internet-connected device. This essentially means setting up and launching your SAP Business One session from your device, which makes it an easily accessible method once the setup has been completed.
This method also comes with some restrictions depending on whether you are using a Windows or Mac operating system. These generally depend on the capabilities of the internet connection and device in question. Most modern connections and most modern devices will offer sufficient compatibility to complete most SAP Business One workflows.

3) The SMB Solutions HTML5 WebClient
The SMB Solutions HTML5 WebClient is the most appealing method for many users because it has the least restrictions in place. All of your add-ons and third-party features will work seamlessly in the HTML5 WebClient. There are only two exceptions to the rule:
- Printing. The print function does not communicate directly with local printers. Instead, it generates a PDF on your local device. You must open that PDF and print files separately.
- Copying. Users cannot copy files directly from a cloud session to a local machine through the web browser. This is an intentional security restriction that improves compliance and data privacy. We use the WebDav protocol to facilitate file transfers between the cloud and local devices securely. Here’s a tutorial on how to set up and use WebDav.

Update Your SAP Access Method
The HTML5 client is the most advanced access method available to SAP Business One Cloud users. The vast majority of users will benefit from increased security and the unrestricted ability to use add-ons. For administrators and stakeholders, it means you can run your entire business directly from a web browser, ensuring best-in-class business performance and agility with minimal hardware investment.
